I've lived in Bourton since 1993 having moved to the area to get married and start a family. My daughters and stepsons attended the local schools and I was Vice-Chair of the Primary School Governing body between 2002 and 2008.
In addition to my Performance Coaching business, I have developed a modest portfolio of voluntary community activism roles bound by a common thread of supporting community growth and connection. This stems from my professional focus on mental toughness and mindset development. I’m a strong believer in the importance of a strong and vibrant community, where people look out for one another, particularly as we emerge from the COVID pandemic and as we contemplate a very challenging and uncertain economic future.
In 2022, I chaired the working group that organised the Platinum Jubilee programme in Bourton. I'm the coordinator of the Bourton Business Network. I’m also a regular on Cotswolds Radio co-presenting a monthly show called Bourton Matters. I’m passionate about improving mental health (serving as a trustee for Headspace – the local mental health charity for young people) and addressing environmental issues to ensure we leave our locality in a better state for future generations.
I also make time for enjoyment! I’m a passionate foodie, love gardening, reading, listening to music and taking long walks in our amazing Cotswolds countryside.
Our village is a special place to live, work and visit and I want to try and make it even better. Sustainability, capacity and a citizen voice need to be central to defining the future of Bourton and I’m enthusiastic to push for this.
Cllr Jon Wareing joined the Parish Council in September 2022.
