Vacancy for a Committee Clerk/Administration Assistant

12 hours per week

Starting salary at NALC payscale SCP18 £25,419 pa pro rata/£14.21 per hour

We have a role to support our committees with their regular meetings and to provide general administration assistance in the Parish Office, based at The George Moore Community Centre.

The role would suit an individual with some knowledge or experience of local government and who can demonstrate excellent administrative and IT skills.

Our Parish Council currently has 12 councillors, with a total of 13 seats available. We hold regular committee meetings, usually on Monday and Wednesday evenings, averaging 3-4 evening meetings per month. The post-holder would be required to have the time flexibility to attend these meetings as part of the 12 hours per week with the remaining hours to be worked during normal office hours. It is anticipated that these hours would be worked on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, although this would be subject to agreement prior to commencement of the role.

The role will primarily support the Village Environment, Youth & Wellbeing and Highways Committees in creating agendas, taking minutes and progressing actions following the meetings. You will work closely with the Committee Chairmen, Parish Clerk and Assistant Clerk and support and training will be available to ensure that all legal requirements for the meetings are met.

The post-holder would need to be confident in liaising with people from all sectors of the community as well as a range of contractors and suppliers.
