Corky's Capers!

Did you know Bourton has its very own Colonel Tom? Well actually ours is Major John (Cork) and he was inspired by the national hero to put his career and lifetime of PE instructing in the Forces, the Fire Service College and in the British Legion, to work in his garden! Compared to Colonel Sir Tom, our Major John, known as Corky to his friends, is a mere spring chicken at a spritely 85 years old. For each consecutive day since lockdown, John has been walking laps of his garden. He is aiming to keep this up for 100 consecutive days, and hence is looking to inspire others to exercise in their golden years, under the banner of “Colonel Tom’s Centurions”. We have yet to get permission from the great man himself! Corky has just asked that if anyone would like to sponsor him in his endeavours, he would like to raise funds for great causes in Bourton, including the work of Bourton Street Volunteers and their many partner groups. To make a donation, please do so via the Parish Council. Thank you! Gloucestershire Live article available here.
