Bourton-on-the-Water Parish Council
Parish and Town Councils have been given the power under various pieces of legislation to make grants to different organisations and bodies and the Parish Council therefore sets aside a sum within its annual budget to provide grants. These grants are subject to general legislation, but it is usual for local Councils to set out additional guidelines for the consideration of such applications. Our current procedure is listed below and it sets out our current policy governing Grant Applications. The policy is revised annually and each year’s policy is posted on the web-site as and when available.
Please note that the deadline for receipt of all applications is 20th August in each calendar year. Local groups and organisations are encouraged to put the deadline of 20th August in their diary for every year's applications.
This timescale enables Council to initially consider all grants at its September meeting. Applications for large grants will be further considered and approved at the October meeting, usually following a presentation by the applicant organisation. Organisations wishing to submit an application for either a Small (under £1,000) or a Large (over £1,000) Grant are asked to submit these applications using the form provided below. Applicants must be aware that large grants will only be payable during the following financial year to enable provision to be made within that year’s budget, and organisations wishing to apply should therefore prepare their application early to ensure it can be paid in the year in which it is required.
2017 Grant Awards
A number of local groups and organisations were awarded grants at the Council meeting in September 2017, including Men in Sheds, Bourton Brownies, Guides & Rainbows and Bourton Primary Academy, amongst others.
Please click on the links below to see a full schedule of the grants awarded in 2017.
Men in Sheds
The Council is pleased to be able to offer the local Men in Sheds group assistance with its running costs following the group's relocation and fitting out of a new base on the Royal British Legion premises.
Bourton Primary Academy Gardening Club
The local school's Gardening Club has been supported by the Council's grant scheme over the past few years and we were delighted to support them again this year with the purchase of soil and compost to improve the raised beds used by the pupils as their allotments.
The Villager Community Bus Service
We donated £300 towards the cost of running the twice weekly bus service from Bourton to Witney and Chipping Norton which currently transports many residents from Bourton on the Water. For further details about the service they offer please click here.
